Dear Daddy
George R. Mitchell April 23, 1909- July 26th, 1976
Dear Daddy, Today is your 100th birthday and you are celebrating it in
heaven! Oh, How I miss you. I am so glad that you were my father. You
taught me so much and even though we did not always agree, I respected
and trusted you and felt like I was always taken care of and safe as
long as you were alive. No one else has had a greater impact on my life.
I miss you.
I’ve tried to live up to the high standards you set by your example.
Your wisdom has always intrigued me. Survival has always been your best
instinct.
Sensitivity, your best trait. I follow behind you attempting to walk in
your footsteps.
I will always love you, and I know that you are the first one peering
out of that window in the sky that I now look up to when I need your
advice.
Mostly Dad what I want you to know is that you were a great parent and I
couldn’t have asked for a better dad than you. I counted on you for
advice; you always knew the best way. You were my teacher.
My Dad never won a Pulitzer, or Nobel peace price, was never recognized
by the public.
In my heart my father was all of the above, he truly has made me the
person I am today, and I always knew he was proud of me because he told
me so.
So Happy Birthday Daddy!!! You’ll always be a special part of my life
and I will always carry you with me in my heart….
With so much love,
Your son,
Jerry
